Seen in

·      Severe tropical sprue

·      Gastroenteritis

·      Cow’s milk/soya sensitivity in children

·      Whipple’s disease

o   caused by Tropheryma whippelii

o   causes malabsorption

o   symptoms of joint pain, diarrhoea, CNS effects and culture negative endocarditis

o   treat with anti-malarials (12-18 months), steroids, iron supplements and high calorie intake

·      Hypogammaglobulinaemia

·      Neomycin therapy

·      Laxative abuse

·      Norovirus
