Oxygen-haemoglobin affinity

Oxyhaemoglobin affinity decreases (ie. shifts to the RIGHT) in situations where greater O2 is required

–       High temperature

–       Low oxygen

–       High pCO2

–       Acidosis

–       Raised 2,3-DPG (in chronic hypoxia, eg. altitude, chronic lung disease)
